Habitat

Two recent disasters have thrashed a bit of the Philippines’ beautiful landscapes, but we need to be on the lookout for more.  Climate change is a serious issue we need to take under consideration, as there are speculations about some of the small islands in the Philippines that may vanish from the map permanently in the next few years.

Super typhoons, abnormal changes in the weather pattern, or increased hotness or coolness in a certain area are indications of climate change.  Climate change has also been known to cause disasters on some areas.

According to a report, the country’s sea level is expected to rise by about 125 centimeters, which exceeds the global average by 10-15%. This will surely cause a lot of the Philippine islands, or at least the small ones, to disappear.  This will bring about loss of life and destruction of property.

Also, there will be more intense storm surges and typhoons hitting the coastal areas.  We have just started recovering from the wrath of the super typhoon Yolanda, or as internationally known, Haiyan. Are we ready for more storm surges, and possibly even tsunamis? Are we really prepared for what may be coming?  Ask yourselves if you are ready to respond to another disaster waiting to happen, or ignore it like we did the previous ones?  You be the judge.

  1. I'm now thinking of my relatives in the province, people in coastal areas, Central Business Districts with towering skyscrapers...who can run away or hide from God's wrath? No one.
Good thing He who calls forth the winds can also still the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea he can also hush....Psalm 107:29

  2. Think of earthquake-proof buildings, underground shelters, sea walls, evacuation plans, emergency preparedness campaigns, disaster risk reduction strategies and every human effort for preservation, can they really stand still on our defense? It's high time to seek divine protection.
The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
Let us all humble ourselves before the great Lord. After all, even those scientists, geologists, intellectuals, etc monitoring this climate change won't guarantee an escape. Seek God and stay safe.
