Our Sovereign God puts you exactly where you are right now, not only for you to work, but to do something more, to do something with eternal value.
Acts 1:8 “But you’ll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you’ll be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
It was in our online English class where I met Vanessa. From the start, I never had a problem
with her for she’s a polite Chinese student and an eager learner. We always had a great time together. Then one day, I learned from her that she’d been an atheist all her life. She had never known what church is like and has never had any belief in God. She was an atheist, and her husband as well, and most probably their whole clan. Could you imagine living in this dangerous world without a Savior? One might be successful in their lives here on earth. One might be so convinced that everything is as it is. That what meets the eye is the ONLY REALITY. Then death will knock on the door and shout: “It’s about time!” After all these years of believing evolution, everything science and that very logical mind, here you are standing before the Great God who created you and who you refused to believe in! That might be frightening, right?

I felt so downhearted and since that day. I always make sure to put God in our daily conversation. During the times her child was sick, I offered some prayers and for her problems, advices from the Bible. I even let her practice saying ‘God bless’ at end of the class. That wasn't a piece of cake! Talking about God is such a very sensitive issue for them and should be avoided in the class. What’s more, every class is recorded so during those days I always asked God to make me ready if I needed to face a memo! God said,”Stand firm and let nothing move you. Always make yourselves ready for the work of the Lord, because you know your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” The appointed time came (we needed to extend the class time to give way for the prayer of acceptance) and this woman accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior! Praise God! Within that week, she bought her own Bible. I didn't even tell her to do it so!
Oh, that good feeling you feel when you accomplished something for the King of Kings! I know you have felt this before. In what ways have you witnessed? (Leave your comments on how simple or creative your witnessing style is or how you defended the faith in your office, school or personal life) or if you haven’t, what’s holding you back? We are given authority to evangelize the whole world. Witnessing is not something we do on a weekend-basis only or one of the lists on our come-my-retirement period. We are in fact; called to be full-time ministers- our work is to witness! Our Great Lord is on His way! No time to waste!

40 to 70 percent of our waking hours is work-related. Therefore, we need to consume our work as part of our calling or vocation and not just an occupation, a place to reflect right values and not just a place to get what we want. Let us look for opportunities to minister and serve others through our work so we can get significant satisfaction in our activities, thus honoring our big boss, our master & maker, God Adonai.
