Prayer Movements

by Ilai

Few months ago, the strongest typhoon ever recorded devastated the Visayas region and took the lives of many of our kababayans. It’s not enough that we’ll just remember that fateful day but we ought to make some actions as well.

During a number of conferences and gathering of intercessors, where we did not only pray but also pleaded to have a nationwide prayer movement, at long last it was granted. Led by our very own President Aquino was the National Day of Prayer and Solidarity with the theme ‘One Nation in Prayer’ last Jan. 20 in Malacañang.

Though people have questioned, ‘why only now?’, in another sense, it is still on time being held on the first month of the year. Prayer is a powerful weapon against any kind of enemy’s attack because it’s a declaration of our reliance upon God, the acknowledgement that He is in control of this nation. It also shows our dependence on God’s intervention and not solely on what we can attain by any physical preparation.

Just imagine, this event was not far from what had happened in the biblical times when kings led their nations in praying to God. Let’s all pray that it won’t be the last but just the beginning of many more Nationwide prayers led not only led by religious groups but hand in hand with our government officials and the mass.

To support this, different activities had been organized in Mega Manila. In Paranaque City, Pastors, Ministers and Leaders Association (PAMILEA) organized and led a Fun Run that aimed to unify the body of Christ. It took place on Jan. 18th , at the Memorial Park. Philippine Bible Society (PBS) was also present at the event to persuade the participants to join their Handwritten Bible project. The following Saturday, Jan. 25th a motorcade was held. The participants declared word of God and God’s blessings as they went on different main routes.

Eh, tayo?
